Each week on “On a Mission” we talk to community leaders who are out to make a positive impact in the area. Today, our host Wendy Norfleet talks to Theresa Scordo from the Jacksonville Humane Society.

The Jacksonville Humane Society provides care, comfort and compassion to animals in need while engaging the hearts, hands and minds of our community to bring about an end to the killing of abandoned and orphaned shelter animals. The Jacksonville Humane Society has sheltered and cared for animals on the First Coast since 1885. Today, they are a no-kill animal shelter that cares for nearly 9,000 cats and dogs each year. In addition to pet adoptions, they offer humane education for adults and youth, low-cost veterinary care at JHS Veterinary Services, behavior assistance and training, and other lifesaving programs.
